Thursday, November 15, 2007 was Grandparents's Day at Harvey Elementary school.  Grandparents were greeted with coffee, juice and kringle. After they signed in, they went to the classrooms to visit. Some of them were invited to participate in the classroom activities. Harvey had almost 200 grandparents come through the school, and we thank them for coming!

 

 

Welcome to American Education Week

Please join us in the celebration of American Education Week. The theme this year is Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility. We are celebration what is right with public schools.This is also when we can show how thankful we are for the educators, staff, and community that impact our student's learning, achievement, safety, and well-being.

American Education Week is observed during the week of November 11-17.

For our community project we will conduct a food drive. We are asking each student to bring in 1 can of food for the Shalon Center. Items will be collected throughout the week.

Monday-November 12-Let's be thankful for our military service people. Students are encouraged to write an individual thank you letter to these courageous people who protect our country.

Tuesday, November 13-We are thankful for all our grandparents and others living in nursing homes. To brighten their meals during this autumn season, students are asked to create and decorate a placemat. It could be an autumn scene, or Thanksgiving holiday decor. The finished placemats will be delivered to nursing homes in our community.

Wednesday, November 14- Is Educational Support Professional's Day. We appreciate our support staff at Harvey who help our school to function. We would like one class thank you note to : an educational assistant that helps you in the classroom, or to the secretaries in the office, or to the computer lab assistant, or the lunchroom helpers, guidance counselor, or any other support personnel you want to thank.

Thursday, November 15-Is Grandparents Involvement Day. Grandparents are invited to share a school day with their grandchildren.

Friday, November 16-Spirit Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear Harvey school colors to celebrate American Education Week.
