April 1st -Half day for students-Spring Recess begins
April 12th - School Re-opens
Students are doing a great job of reading throughout the week. Keep on reading and turning in your sheet on Fridays. As of Feb. 19th I have given the students a choice of completing a connections book reading sheet or writing a book review. One or the other should have been in their home folder this last Fri. (2-19-10) Periodically students will have a choice between a book review or a reading sheet.
We are now beginning to work on subtraction facts. Please practice at home with your child. Learning these facts now makes math easier in the upper grades where more advanced computation is a part of math. (Also, practice addition facts so they stay strong.)
We are now working on expository writing where we explain how to do or make something. The introduction to this was their snowman project from Jan. Most students need to work on looking at their audience while speaking to them. The snowman projects were great! The students enjoyed presenting and listening to other students exjplainlhow they made their snowman.
In science we are studying Air & Weather as our next unit. Students have enjoyed the air experiments and are able to track the day's temperature and type of weather.
In Social Studies students still need more practice identifying continents and oceans on a map. To help with this we are reviewing the material and then will be making a small globe showing both.

Mr. Ed Laznicka brought a cage of mosquitoes to demonstrate how mosquito repellent works.
The students learned many new facts about more exotic bugs- like the Hissing Cockroach.
