Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a contest to encourage quality reading. The Kenosha Unified School District, Carthage College and the Kenosha News sponser this project. Any team of 10 fourth and fifth grade students from elementary public, private, or parochial schools can participate. Team members read from a list of 30 books, chosen by librarians and teachers.
The tournament this year will be held on two Friday afternoons, April 23rd and April 30th, at Mahone Middle School, beginning at 4:15 p.m. Cumulative scores will be kept throughout both afternoons, with the winner being announced on April 30, 2010. All students who participate are winners, because they shared their love of reading.
